Members will find the Secretary’s report of the BIOS Annual General Meeting held on 22 April at Chelsea, O1d Church below (page 34). There, the circumstances in which your Hon. President has also assumed office as Hon. Chairman will be explained. Rest assured that this is not a coup d’état, as our Secretary explains’ Council members have a prospective Chairman in their sights but that person will not be able to confirm their availability until next year. I was therefore asked to become acting chairman for twelve months, even though constitutionally BIOS has no such office or title. Despite a slight sense of déjà vu (I served previously as Chairman between 1992 and 1997) I am happy to assume the responsibility, especially as I hope it will serve as a prelude to an excellent appointment next year.
