It is with a certain sense of déjà vu that I embark on writing my first proper ‘From the Chairman’ column for what is (if my calculations are correct) the 186th issue of the BIOS Reporter (It would have been the 187th issue had there not been a double issue in the distant past). In fact, the early issues of the Reporter began with an editorial rather than news and reflections from the Chairman. As the Editor (and Hon. Typist) of those early issues, I therefore contributed the first page of text, and I well remember the difficulties I sometimes experienced in finding something of consequence and interest to say.
