The Golden Jubilee Conference in Oxford was a tremendous success, and I would like to thank everyone who devoted so much time and energy to
organising it. In particular, thanks are due to Dr. Katie Pardee, Richard Hobson, Adrian Mumford, Melvin Hughes, Melanie Plumley, and Dr. David Shuker. Preparing for the conference was a long and demanding process, but the success of the event showed that the effort was well worthwhile. The conference concluded with a panel discussion featuring Dr Alan Thurlow, John Brennan, Jonathan Rennert, Dr Nicholas Thistlethwaite, Jonathan Ambrosino, Katelyn Emerson, Dr John Rowntree, and John Maidment. During the discussion, I asked the panel to reflect on BIOS’s greatest achievements over the past fifty years.
