From time to time BIOS publishes books on subjects of interest to its members and of importance to the history of British organs. In recent years, monographs have included books on the organ builders John Nicholson and J.W. Walker. In September 2025, Gerald Sumner’s study of the organs by French builder Cavaillé-Coll that were imported to Britain in the nineteenth century was added. The very latest is Dr William McVicker’s two volume book, ‘The Tonal Architecture and Music of the English Organ’.
