BIOS Reporter – Volume 48, No.4 – November 2024

The front cover of this edition of the Reporter shows a watercolour of an organ made by George Maydwell Holdich (1816-1896). It was for ‘[St Oswald’s’] Malpas, Cheshire’, and was opened 21st November 1841. It had one row of keys, a general swell, key-compass GG to F, ten stops up to Sesquialtera, with Trumpet. (See NPOR N04357). The image was painted by Holdich himself and is one of a series of eighteen such illustrations contained in an album. I am delighted to announce that BIOS has purchased this material for the British Organ Archive. More details of this remarkable acquisition are given on p. 99 of this issue.
