The summer is here and the birds are singing! I wonder how long until autumn arrives. In the summer there is always the temptation to enjoy the good weather and find an outdoor pursuit, but come November, when the thoughts of imminent Christmas Carol Concerts are foremost, it is time again to don the third jumper and fingerless gloves, to brave the churchโ€™s cold to test out Wachet Auf! My local organistsโ€™ society has many talented organists who have the Fellowship Diploma from the RCO. Several of them have different solutions to avoid the cold in church. Of three, who are all internationally known players, one has a small real pipe organ, one a reed organ and other an Allen digital organ, all in their own homes.
